Fare Mondi, la mostra più visitata / Making Worlds, the most visited exhibition in Italy

Con 12.891 visitatori nella settimana che va dal 29 giugno al 5 luglio, la 53. Esposizione Internazionale d’Arte è la mostra più visitata in Italia. Aperta al pubblico fino al 22 novembre 2009, la mostra centrale diretta da Daniel Birnbaum e intitolata Fare Mondi // Making Worlds, espone opere di oltre 90 artisti di tutto il mondo. Le sedi espositive sono i Giardini, l’Arsenale e vari luoghi di Venezia. 
12,891 persons visited the 53rd International Art Exhibition in the week 29 June to 5 July, which positions the show as the most visited art exhibition in Italy. The show is directed by Daniel Birnbaum and titled Making Worlds. The exhibition is open until November 22nd, and displays works by over 90 artists. The exhibition venues include the Giardini, the Arsenale, and other locations throughout Venice.

Il 6 giugno, la Giuria ha assegnato i seguenti premi ufficiali: Leone d’oro per la migliore Partecipazione Nazionale agli Stati Uniti d’America (Bruce Nauman: Topological Gardens); Leone d’Oro per il miglior artista della Mostra Fare Mondi a Tobias Rehberger (Germania); Leone d’Argento per il più promettente giovane artista della Mostra Fare Mondi a Nathalie Djurberg (Svezia).
Quattro le Menzioni speciali: a Lygia Pape (1927-2004), Michael Elmgreen & Ingar Dragset, curatori del Padiglione della Danimarca e Paesi Nordici, Ming Wong (Singapore), Roberto Cuoghi. I Leoni d’oro alla carriera sono stati attribuiti dal Cda della Biennale a Yoko Ono e John Baldessari.
On 6th June, the international jury assigned the following awards: Golden Lion for the Best National Participation to the United States of America (Bruce Nauman: Topological Gardens); Golden Lion for the Best Artist of the Making Worlds exhibition to Tobias Rehberger (Germany); Silver Lion for a Promising Young Artist in the Making Worlds exhibition to Nathalie Djurberg (Sweden).
Four Special Mentions were assigned to Lygia Pape (1927-2004), Michael Elmgreen & Ingar Dragset, curators of the Pavilions of Denmark and Nordic Countries (Finland, Norway, Sweden); Ming Wong (Singapore), and Roberto Cuoghi. The Board of the Venice Biennale awarded two Golden Lions for Lifetime Achievement to Yoko Ono and John Baldessari.

Con nuovi percorsi e laboratori sia per adulti che per bambini l’offerta Educational, usufruita già da 6.800 persone dall’apertura, si è ulteriormente arricchita.
New guided visits and workshop activities, for both adults and children, enrich the Educational activities available at the 53rd International Art Exhibition. 6,800 visitors have taken part in these activities since the opening of the exhibition on 7th June.

BAARÌA di Giuseppe Tornatore apre la 66. Mostra / Giuseppe Tornatore’s BAARÌA to open 66th Venice Film Festival

BAARÌA, scritto e diretto dal premio Oscar Giuseppe Tornatore, sarà il film d’apertura (in concorso) della 66. Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica, diretta da Marco Müller e in programma al Lido di Venezia dal 2 al 12 settembre 2009. Il programma completo della Mostra sarà annunciato nel corso della conferenza stampa di presentazione il 30 luglio 2009.
Torna anche quest’anno il servizio che consente di essere informati sul calendario delle proiezioni per le quali sarà possibile pre-acquistare i biglietti online. Le proiezioni saranno selezionate tra quelle delle fasce orarie mattutine, pomeridiane e notturne, con esclusione delle proiezioni in prima serata. Viene richiesta una attivazione di questo servizio mediante iscrizione sul sito della Biennale di Venezia, sezione Cinema.
Previste agevolazioni per il pubblico, quali ospitalità nelle residenze dell’ESU Venezia a studenti e studiosi che intendono soggiornare a Venezia a prezzi modici, menù a prezzo fisso nei ristoranti convenzionati, scontistica per esercizi, servizi e spiagge del Lido, abbonamenti a prezzi speciali per trasporti su acqua e su terra.
BAARÌA, written and directed by Oscar-winner Giuseppe Tornatore, will be the opening film (in competition) of the 66th Venice International Film Festival, directed by Marco Müller and set to run from 2nd to 12th September 2009. The line-up of the Festival will be announced during the official press conference on 30th July.
A booking service will keep the audience informed about the calendar of selected screenings for which tickets may be purchased online. The screenings will be selected among the morning, afternoon and late-night programs, with the exclusion of prime-time viewings. To gain access to this service, activation is required via the Venice Biennale website, Cinema section.
Benefits for the audience will include accomodation in the ESU facilities in Venice, reduced prices in restaurants, discounts on shops, services and beaches at Lido, and special-price passes for public transport.

Successo di pubblico e critica per Grado Zero / A successful start up for Degree Zero

Spettacoli e performances per il pubblico si sono svolti dal 20 al 30 giugno nei luoghi dell’Arsenale: tra le prime mondiali The Waste Land di Ismael Ivo con la partecipazione dei 15 danzatori dell’Arsenale della Danza, e l’ultima coreografia di Michael Clark, Swan Lack – Thank U Ma’am interpretata dalla Michael Clark Company, nelle prossime settimane in tour europeo.
Il grande successo di pubblico, che ha esaurito i teatri per tutti gli appuntamenti della Biennale Danza, ha portato a decidere, proprio per esaudire le numerose richieste, due repliche straordinarie di The Waste Land, il 29 e 30 giugno.
Shows and performances for the audience ran 20th to 30th June in the Arsenale venues: world premieres included Ismael Ivo’s The Waste Land, featuring 15 dancers from the new company, Arsenale Danza, and the eagerly awaited Michael Clark’s new choreography, Swan Lack – Thank U Ma’am, featuring the Michael Clark Company, that is now touring Europe.
All dates for the Dance Biennale shows were sold out, which resulted in two repeat performances of The Waste Land, on 29th and 30th June.

Arsenale della Danza – Nuove audizioni / Arsenale Danza: auditions

L’Arsenale della Danza prepara le prossime attività con audizioni per la selezione di un gruppo di danzatori che vogliano arricchire la propria formazione nel corso di una masterclass che si svolgerà a Venezia da gennaio a maggio del 2010. Le audizioni si terranno a Vienna, ImpulsTanz (8-9 agosto 2009) e a Venezia, Teatro Piccolo Arsenale (20-21 novembre 2009).
The Arsenale Danza, the new training center directed by Ismael Ivo, is now preparing the activities for 2010. It is possible to apply for auditions to select a group of dancers wishing to upgrade their skills. The next masterclass will be held from January to May 2010. The auditions will take place in Vienna (8th-9th August 2009) and in Venice (20th-21st November 2009).

Presentato il 53. Festival Internazionale di Musica Contemporanea / Program of the 53rd International Festival of Contemporary Music

Il 53. Festival Internazionale di Musica Contemporanea è stato presentato il 16 giugno a Roma dal Presidente della Biennale, Paolo Baratta e dal Direttore del settore Musica, Luca Francesconi. Il Festival, intitolato Il Corpo del Suono, si svolgerà a Venezia dal 25 settembre al 3 ottobre 2009. Il programma comprende 73 compositori da tutto il mondo per 87 esecuzioni, e 26 novità di cui 16 assolute. Inoltre, installazioni, incontri, laboratori e convegni. Il Leone d’oro alla carriera sarà consegnato al compositore György Kurtág il 27 settembre.
The line-up of the Festival was announced on 16th June, by the President of the Venice Biennale, Paolo Baratta, and by the Director of the Music section, Luca Francesconi. The Festival is titled The Body of Sound and will run 25th September to 3rd October. The program includes 73 composers from all over the world, 87 performances, 26 Italian premieres and 16 world premieres, alongside installations, meetings, workshops and seminars. The Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement will be presented to the composer György Kurtág on 27th September.

La Biennale di Venezia rinnova il sito web / A new website for the Venice Biennale

Il nuovo sito della Biennale organizza i suoi contenuti in due portali: quello tradizionale www.labiennale.org, caratterizzato da una aggiornata componente istituzionale, e il nuovo, relazionale e interattivo, denominato www.labiennalechannel.org, aperto a un pubblico moderno, in particolare ai giovani. Il nuovo sito www.labiennalechannel.org dispone di contenuti video, sfruttando l’enorme potenzialità di artisti e personalità che gravitano intorno alla Biennale; concorsi online, per incoraggiare i nuovi talenti e stimolarne la creatività; discussioni, per suscitare il confronto tra sensibilità multiformi; contenuti educational, che presentano i percorsi formativi e le attività di laboratorio.
Contents are now distributed in two different web portals: the traditional one, www.labiennale.org, that includes corporate contents; and the new relational and interactive area, www.labiennalechannel.org, designed for a modern web audience and the young in particular. The new www.labiennalechannel.org features videos that present major artists and personalities related to the Biennale; online competitions in order to encourage people with skills and trigger their creativity; discussions, to stimulate the rise of interest groups for art topics; and educational contents that present workshop activities and educational itineraries.

La Biennale di Venezia ritorna nella sede storica di Ca’ Giustinian / The Venice Biennale is back at Ca’ Giustinian

Ca’ Giustinian è ora completamente rinnovata. Interessata da un importante restauro per opera del Comune di Venezia e della «Legge Speciale», sarà una «casa aperta» alla cittadinanza. Al piano terra, l’antica Sala degli Specchi con vista sul Bacino di San Marco diventa L’ombra del Leone, una caffetteria, nonché salotto per la città rivolto a iniziative culturali, nel quale poter invitare artisti e personalità per incontri con il pubblico. Aperto inoltre un Box office/Shop.
The headquarters of Ca’ Giustinian have been completely restored by the City Council of Venice with funds made available by the Special Law for the city. The new facility intends to become a space open to citizens and to visitors. On the ground floor, the ancient Sala degli Specchi (Hall of Mirrors) with a view onto the Bacino di San Marco has become a cafeteria and a parlour for the city to be used for cultural initiatives, where artists and personalities may come to meet the public. Box Office and Shop services are also available.
