Plenty of new features in this 20th year since the Salone del Gusto began and the 30th of Slow Food’s activities in Italy. Organised by Slow Food, the Piemonte Region and City of Torino from 22 to 26 September, this year’s event is moving from the exhibition centre into the heart of Torino for the first time to get nearer to the public and involve the entire city. And a name change too: the event will be headed Terra Madre to emphasise the prime importance of food communities and the leading role increasingly attributed to all those who farm and produce our food in the world, highlighting values such as social responsibility and sustainability.
An extremely full and varied programme for the event: there are interactive routes at Valentino Park and between Piazza San Carlo and Via Roma to explore the association of the Chiocciola(Slow Food). Products coming from every corner of the world will be presented at Valentino Park where we can get to know the artisans, their stories and try out new flavours. A short distance away in the Borgo Medievale will be educational activities for schools and families, with workshops, sensory paths and exhibitions.
In the city centre, in Piazza Valdo Fusi, the Maestri del Gusto (Masters of Taste) will be presenting the best wine and food of Torino and its province, while in Via Roma and Piazza San Carlo there will be the Italian Slow Food Presidiums through to Piazza Castello in which will be the Partners of the event, representatives of Italian Regions and dishes prepared by the Cucina dell’Alleanza together with the large Enoteca set up in the courtyard of the beautiful Palazzo Reale. |
